| Ministries and Missions | |
First Christian Church offers more than two dozen ministries or missions in which its members and friends share.
It also invites the formation of new ministries and missions by those in the congregations. For more information on forming such groups, see the church's Ministry Plan.
For specific information on current opportunities to serve, please contact the church office 854-3044.
Children and Youth
CFY and CHI Rho

Godly Play
Godly Play is a creative approach to Christian Education that is designed for young and elementary-age children. Its goals include building a sense of community where children feel accepted and comfortable, helping children develop a sense of self-control and stewardship, and equipping children with the language necessary to speak of their faith.
Outreach
Clothing Delivery Team
Delivers clothes collected from church members and friends to organizations that help those who need clothing.
Children's Outreach Ministry
This team's goal is to organize and complete three annual projects to aid local child-assistance programs with the following: Adopt an Angel, Easter Basket Project and Dress a Live Doll. By providing these gifts, we make the world of children in need a happier place.
Disciples Mission Fund Team
Formerly World Outreach, this team promotes and shares information concerning the church's mission ministries, such as La Trinidad Church, Southwest Good Samaritan Ministries, overseas mission work, and new church starts. It also coordinates special offerings for missions.
FCC Day School and Child Care
For more than three decades, the First Christian Church Day School has sought to teach self-confidence and self-control; to encourage acceptance of human needs; to provide a happy atmosphere conducive to learning; to develop skills in communication; to stimulate curiosity in the world; to encourage self-expression; and to provide a setting second only to the home.
Salvation Army Canteen
This ministry gives us an opportunity to help the less fortunate and to share God's bounty. We do so by preparing and delivering sandwiches on the Salvation Army van.
Evangelism
FCC tries to welcome first-time visitors with a brief, front door visit and a loaf of bread. If you are willing to take 15 minutes to share the love of Christ, this is for you.
Worship
Acolytes
Every worship service begins with the light of Christ being carried into the sanctuary by our children who are in the second grade and older.
Greeters and Ushers
Perhaps the most visible of all ministry teams, greeters and ushers welcome people to worship, help seat people, hand out programs, handle crowd control, and answer a multitude of questions.
Sound Ministry
First Christian Church is blessed with an excellent sound system but needs people who would be willing to operate it during worship services and other events.
Video Ministry
Because a picture is worth a thousand words, capturing regular and special worship services on video allows members who missed or are homebound to experience the worship services.
Sanctuary Decorations
This ministry contributes to the worship experience through decorating the sanctuary for special services, holidays, and the liturgical calendar. Works with Sewing Guild on paraments, banners and other items.
Fellowship Ministry
Fellowship Events Team
Food, fellowship and fun! If you like to cook, to decorate, to plan parties, to set up programs, to serve your fellow church members, to be involved in bringing the congregation together to get to know each other better, then the fellowship ministry is where you need to be.
Administration
Facilities Care Team
This is a "behind the scenes crew" that paints, cleans, fixes and builds, among other things, around the church. Flexible hours are available all during the week to fit your schedule.
Office Volunteers

Pastoral Care
Flower Delivery Team
Flowers in the worship on Sunday are used to make smaller arrangements. On Monday, this team delivers those flowers to members who are hospitalized or homebound.
Funeral Coordination
Making sure that the sanctuary is ready when families gather for funerals or memorial services is the focus of this ministry. It entails arranging flowers on the chancel, checking the sound system, helping with narthex setup and so on.
Pastoral Care Team
This dedicated group of folk minister to the pastoral needs of members of the church.
Wedding Coordination
Making sure that the sanctuary is ready when families gather for weddings as well as helping the couple and their attendants prepare is the focus of this ministry. It entails arranging flowers on the chancel, checking the sound system, helping with narthex setup and so on.
